Questions

How does single elimination work?

Each match has a winner and a loser. The loser is out. The winner goes to the next round. The last player left is the champion.

What is a bye?

A bracket is full when it has 4, 8, 16 or 32 players. For other numbers, some players skip the first round. A skip is a bye. The players with the best seeds get the byes.

What is a seed?

A seed is the place of a player in the list. Seed 1 is the first name. Good seeds play weak seeds in the first round. Seed 1 and seed 2 can meet only in the final.

Can a match end in a tie?

No. In an elimination match, one side must score more points. A tie is not saved.

How many players can I add?

From 2 to 256.

Do I need an account?

No. You do not need an account to make a tournament. The people who watch do not need one either. They open the view link and look.

How long does my tournament stay?

The server deletes your tournament 90 days after the last change. Each score you save is a change. You can delete it sooner with your organizer link. Read more about privacy.

What are the view link and the organizer link?

When you make a tournament, you get two links. Share the view link with your players. They can look at the bracket, but they cannot change it. Keep the organizer link for yourself. With it you can enter scores, fix names and delete the tournament.

Does the bracket update live?

Yes. The page asks for new results every 5 seconds while it is open. Your players see a new score soon after you save it. They do not need to load the page again.
